Kirwin Collection, Booth #6529N

The Kirwin Collection was built from hundreds of deposits and localities around the world, and is truly a geological library. Now housed at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, it will create a resource that will be of value in teaching both the fundamentals and the finer points of the geological processes that form the mineral deposits on which we depend.

Using aerospace-grade construction materials, the electric race car, known as Horizon, boasts some of the best technology on the planet from its solar panels to its battery. See and learn more about this modern marvel from University of Toronto undergraduate engineering students at booth 3220 in the Investors Exchange. Barrick Gold Corporation recently sponsored the students as part of its commitment to encouraging innovation and education here in its hometown of Toronto. The sponsorship will help students solve complex engineering problems, from structural and dynamic challenges, to optimizing energy use, to limiting drag, to perhaps one day producing a sun-powered vehicle that competes in the Indianapolis 500.
