Knocking on the door of PDAC 2016

Feb 16, 2016

The PDAC 2016 Convention is right around the corner. With just a few weeks to go, there is much happening behind the scenes to make sure it’s another memorable event.

Our association is highly respected across the Canadian mineral exploration and development industry, something that I’m very proud of. But it is the scale and quality of the annual PDAC Convention that makes us famous across the world.

This year marks 84 years for the PDAC Convention, Trade Show & Investors Exchange. It allows business from all corners of the world to take place under one very large roof at the Metro Toronto Exhibition Centre, while at the same time, providing a setting for important information sharing and collaboration.

In recent years, upwards of 30,000 people from more than 100 countries have attended. No small number by any scale. Continuing to draw attendees back each year is imperative to the success of the event and PDAC’s reputation. Our committees and employees are at the cutting edge of the latest trends, issues and technologies that are shaping our industry, and bring them all to one place to benefit the entire sector.

Some programs and new features that I’d like to bring to your attention for 2016 are:

  • The Panel Luncheon, “What will fuel the next bull market in mined commodities?”
  • The Mineral Outlook Luncheon, “Commodities await their date with destiny.”
  • The Investors Exchange will host the Tesla Model S electric car where attendees can see how many mined products are used in these environmentally friendly cars. Attendees can stop by and meet Gianni Kovacevic who will start his Realistic Environmentalist North America Tesla Tour at PDAC 2016 by driving his Tesla from Toronto to Tesla headquarters in Palo Alto, California.
  • The visually stunning Kirwin Collection, on loan from the Royal Ontario Museum will be on display for everyone to see.
  • The Royal Canadian Mint will showcase 100 years of history.
  • De Beers will display a collection of Canadian rough diamonds, as well as an assortment of cut and polished diamonds.

For many, the PDAC Convention is just as much about socializing and networking. Tickets are still available for the Awards Evening and the Closing Party.

I look forward to seeing you there!
