Mining Industry Human Resources Guide for Aboriginal Communities

Within the next 10 years, 40% of the workers in the mining industry will reach retirement age, resulting in a worker deficit of approximately 5,800 per year. The engagement of Aboriginal peoples in the mining industry is key to maintaining the industry’s vitality.

In 2009, MiHR released The Mining Industry Human Resources Guide for Aboriginal Communities and The Mining Industry Human Resources Portal for Aboriginal Communities.

These resources provide communities with accurate and current information on career possibilities in the sector, including educational options, employee profiles, key contacts, and job descriptions. This project is an initiative of the Mining Industry Human Resources Council (MiHR), funded by the Government of Canada’s Sector Council Program.
